About Us
CRASH Jewelry began with a simple question: What if the story of a car didn't end when the car did?
Founded in Los Angeles by designer Christi Schimpke, CRASH transforms authentic automotive metal into collectible jewelry that celebrates craftsmanship, sustainability, and design.
Every piece begins with real automotive material sourced from late-model vehicles, including Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and more. Rather than melting materials down or recreating automotive colors, we work directly with original vehicle panels, preserving the factory paint and finish whenever possible. This allows each piece to retain the color, texture, and character of the vehicle it came from.
The metal is then transformed by hand in our Los Angeles studio using proprietary techniques developed over more than a decade of experimentation and refinement.
To complete the story, every design arrives with a CRASH Registration Card documenting the source vehicle material, along with a custom CRASH VIN that serves as a record of authenticity and provenance.
CRASH pieces are more than accessories. They are conversation starters. They are collectibles. They are a way to wear craftsmanship, history, and design in a form that feels both modern and timeless.
Today, CRASH is worn by collectors, automotive enthusiasts, and design-conscious individuals around the world. It is also trusted by corporate partners seeking gifts with meaning, rarity, and a memorable connection to the automotive world.
What we create is not just jewelry.
It is a story you carry with you.
Our Process
Every piece of CRASH Jewelry begins with authentic automotive metal sourced from replacement doors, hoods, fenders, and quarter panels.
Unlike traditional recycling, we do not melt materials down or recast them into something new. Instead, we work directly with original vehicle panels, preserving the factory paint and finish whenever possible. This allows the original color and character of the material to remain visible in the finished design.
The metal is carefully cut, shaped, sanded, polished, and assembled by hand in our Los Angeles studio. Many designs incorporate additional reclaimed materials, including stainless steel sourced from Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon wheel surrounds, as well as semi-precious gemstones, pearls, vintage components, and custom-fabricated metal elements.
A key part of our process is laser engraving. By selectively removing portions of the original factory paint, we reveal the metal beneath, creating intricate patterns and designs through the contrast between painted and exposed surfaces.
Every piece is handcrafted by artisans inside our working body shop studio, where automotive materials are transformed into one-of-a-kind wearable art.
100% Made in the USA
Every piece of CRASH Jewelry is handcrafted in Los Angeles, California.
Our studio is located inside a working body shop, where reclaimed automotive materials are transformed into one-of-a-kind jewelry by skilled artisans.
Each order arrives in custom CRASH packaging made from recycled materials and includes a CRASH Registration Card documenting the source vehicle material and custom CRASH VIN. Jewelry is carefully packaged in a satin or muslin pouch designed to protect your piece for years to come.
Depending on the vehicle and source panel, CRASH Jewelry may be crafted from aluminum, steel, stainless steel, or other automotive materials. Whenever possible, we preserve the original factory paint and finish, maintaining a direct connection to the vehicle from which the material was sourced.

"I love that Christi Schimpke can see beauty in a slab of wrecked metal. Her imagination and craftsmanship are extraordinary. I have several CRASH cuffs, a pair of crash hoop earrings, and even got a his and hers pair of CRASH rings. And out of all the things I have given him over the years, my man wears his crash cuff and crash ring the most! Her pieces are unique and make a statement: be prepared to chat if you wear them. People always inquire, introverts be forewarned!"
